Un po riduttiva come definizione, daiii!!!
Stiamo parlando dei CURE, una band con quasi 30 anni di storia.
Una band che ha abbracciato diversi stili musicali rimanendo sempre fedele a se stessa.
E di Robert Smith, che più che una rockstar è innanzitutto un musicista, poeta, filosofo eistenzialista.
Certo in 30 anni di carriera hanno avuto alti e bassi, come è normale che sia!

Beh, adesso non sono certo più com'erano una volta. Anche gli Iron Maiden suonano da più di 25 anni eppure non si sono ridotti come i The Cure. ^^ Dipende da band a band.

Cosa vuol dire rock pop commerciale riferito ai Cure? Hanno si variato stile molte volte, dagli esordi nei 70 agli album più dark degli 80: per poi passare a remix dei primi 90..E sono sempre rimasti i Cure.
Certo non scrivono sempre canzoni come Boys don't cry, però il loro livello è sempre alto.
Anzi non li metterei neanche al livello degli Iron Maiden che dal loro esordio si sono sterotipati sul loro genere e a 50 anni stanno ancora facendo i metallari foruncolosi..

Bah...io sono per coerenza. Non puoi iniziare a fare il punkettone e poi col tempo lasciare che le tue canzoni siano trasmesse via radio e che ti ascoltino pure i fighetti. Si deve mantenere una certa dignità e fedeltà allo stile come hanno fatto tante band hard rock del passato: Alice Cooper, Alice in Chain, Sodom, Venom, Motorhead e potre citarne ancora a bizzeffe. Sarà che io ascolto metal e principalmente musica underground come i Sopor Aeternus che rifuggono dal successo per relegarsi nel proprio mero piacere personale. Metal Will Never DIE!
Comunque se vuoi ascoltare del buon punk vecchio stile sano, puro e pulito, ti consiglio gli Amen. Casey Chaos, il leader, pur di non abbassarsi a sottoscrivere un contratto musicale con case discografiche per fighetti e tardire il suo genere, si è ridotto ad un senzatetto, senza nemmeno i soldi per mangiare nè curare le gravi infezioni respiratorie che l'affliggono. Che uomo!

I Cure non hanno mai fatto i "punkettoni".Mi sa che confondi le due cose. Anzi! hanno creato un genere nutrendosi di punk, new wave, glam e molto altro; genere che, trall'altro, hanno condiviso con Smith e Joy Division.

In linea di principio posso anche essere per la coerenza, ma non certo per la "stasi" musicale priva di evoluzione.
Aggiungerei, in fine, che Robert Smith e compagni non hanno mai detto di fare punk o musica cosidetta "underground".
Sarà che io ascolto un pò di tutto, ma nel 2006 creo sarebbe anche ora di abbandonare i triti e ritriti slogan in stile: true metal, metal will never die, commerciale vs vera musica. Sarà anche il caso di finirla con questi discorsi da ghetto.

Solo che, perdonami sarà una mia impressione, ma mi sembra che tu conosci i Cure, la loro musica e la loro storia come io conosco gli Iron Maiden!!!
